Today is Global Running Day, a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. It’s easy to participate — just pledge (on the Global Running Day website) to take part in some type of running activity today. It can be a solo lap around the block, some miles on the treadmill, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving.
I’ve already pledged to run three miles with my kids’ track team this evening. There are lots of organized Global Running Day runs happening today all over the country – check out the website for locations near you. If you can’t join in one of those, try to get out on the roads, track, trails, or treadmill for a mile or two and think about why you love to run.
If nothing else, running today will help ease your guilt if you’re planning on celebrating National Donut Day, which takes place this Friday.
